Rush: “My choice of words was not the best, and in the attempt to be humorous, I created a national stir. I sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for the insulting word choices.” Limbaugh — who also called Fluke a “prostitute,” said that he wanted her to make sex tapes so he could watch, and told her her parents they should be “embarrassed” by her. Rush Limbaugh also said that he would “Buy Georgetown Women ‘As Much Aspirin To Put Between Their Knees As They Want'”.

On Wednesday and Thursday of this past week Rush Limbaugh outdid himself by spewing misogynist sexist remarks that splashed on women in the US and around the world. If you are female and you have an opinion concerning birth control then you are a slut.
It sounds so much better coming out of Rush’s big mouth:
Limbaugh called Fluke a “slut” and a “prostitute,” saying that she was having “so much sex” that she wanted the government to pay for her contraception. Then, he went further, saying, ” if we’re going to pay for your contraceptives and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it. As I wrote on my Facebook Wall: Sluts Vote. Calling a woman a slut and prostitute for speaking up and sharing her opinion on birth control is not okay, Rush. Your sniveling apology is not enough. It is time you stopped polluting the air waves – my hope is that women’s (all of us ‘sluts and prosititutes’ across the whole country) voices drown out your boorish and bigoted voice. Stand up women; make your voices heard — Rush Limbaugh’s behavior and ‘choice of words’ are more than appalling and he should be fired by his advertisers! If one woman is called a SLUT for speaking up then we are all sluts: watch out men – SLUTS VOTE as consumers, tax payers and as citizens at the polls!

Sorry, Mom, for using the “S” word; I promised to clean up my language, but Rush started it! If one woman is singled out then we should all stand with her in slutty solidarity. I have signed every protest again his Clear Channel/Premier Radio sponsors I could find. You have got to use the power of money – or loss of money – to have some impact in today’s political world.

On Friday Rush spewed forth more vitriol. On Saturday he read an on-line apology most likely vetted and written by lawyers. He apologized for his word choice (which word – slut? prostitute? Was one okay and one not-so-good?), not his beliefs. I/We don’t accept your empty apology, Rush. You will have to do better, in fact, you can atone by leaving the EIB air space. And by the way, take Bill O’Reilly with you (et tu, Bill, you want to jump on the band wagon, too?) and a few bishops and silent dogs running for office that won’t even speak up in defense of their wives and daughters (they probably think that their family planning was spaced by aspirin between the knees).

He basically said, “Sorry, sluts for calling you sluts but if you weren’t such slutty sluts, I wouldn’t have had to call you sluts.  You asked for it, and I’m sorry you sluts don’t like being called sluts”.
I have signed every petition I can find, emailed every sponsor I know about, and contacted the FCC and I know I am only one of thousands upon thousands who have done so.
This isn’t going away until he’s off the air and the conservatives out there suffer the consequences of their actions.

HUFFPOST SUPER USER mancoff 3/4/2012 HP: It took him three days of adding insult after insult to Ms Fluke before Limbauagh realized that for the first time he couldn’t get the Country to drink the kool aid and for the first time he was going to lose many important advertisers. His apology was all about his own personal self preservation and that is all it was. Mr Limbaugh owed more than just an apology to Ms Fluke, he owed an apology to her parents, he owed an apology to all the women in this country and he owed an apology to his audiences for lying and misquoting what Ms Fluke actually said before Congress. She did not speak to congress about her own personal use or non use of contraceptives, she spoke to congress about the use of contraceptives for health reasons and her own personal experience with a friend who had ovarian cancer whose doctors put her on contraceptives to slow cancer growth and how her inability to get contraceptives through her insurance affected her ability to control her cancer. Limbaugh totally distorted Ms Flukes testimony to Congress, he demeaned and insulted and humilitated her deliberatly and he conned and “punked” his audiences.
The women in this country and the men who support them should continue to put the pressure on Limbaugh, his advertisers and his employers for weeks and months to come, and give Limbaugh a taste of what he has been dishing out to others for years and years without remorse.

To suggest that a species that has grown from one billion in population to nine billion in one century with over 50% of that population below the abject poverty line, my Catholic co-religionists included, can use abstention as a means of birth control, is intellectual and moral idiocy. A child is all of our responsibilities. I’d rather run the numbers in favor of the quality of life. Who pays for it is a straw man argument used by the demagogue from both sides. To put it perspective, if we, as taxpayers were to pay 100% of the cost of birth control for 100% of women eligible, the total cost would be less than 3 months of the cost for a waisted war in Afghanistan. I’d rather vote my dollars for something that returns the investment our citizens. Sorry Mr. O’Reilly, for an economist, dumb statement.

Of course Mitt Romney is not running Bain Capital anymore. He is a “retired partner”, but he still has a huge financial stake in Bain Capital. … One of the subsidiaries of Clear Channel is Premiere Radio Networks. Premiere Radio Networks distributes a whole host of conservative talk radio shows. Everyone in the conservative world knows names such as Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck. Clear Channel also controls some other conservative talk radio hosts (such as Michael Savage and Mark Levin) that are not part of the Premiere Radio family.

Me: Oi! You think Mitt is going to denounce Rush? The only member of his family with enough balls to take on Rush Limbaugh is Ann Romney – once she removes the Republican gag, that is.
