Eating Our Way Around SouthCoast

Sue Stiller, Ed and I decided to eat out one Friday a month in a local restaurant in the Lakeville-Freetown-New Bedford region of the SouthCoast, Massachusetts. Then, because we liked our company so much, we decided to eat out every other Friday – this happened after Fiesta’s when during the salsa we began to list the next restaurant we would visit and realized our list was so exciting (food-wise) and tasty that we couldn’t hold back! We didn’t have anything better to do and this simple activity kept us out of trouble. We found that we all excelled in ordering, sharing, talking, laughing, eating and digesting that it would be a waste not to double our eating pleasure. We created a list of restaurants that we visited and enjoyed (and by no means not visit again!):
Blue Point Restuarant, Seafood, Acushnet
Antonio’s, Portugese, New Bedford
Fiesta’s, Mexican, Somerset
Bittersweet, Fancy Taven, Westport
Nephew’s, American, Freetown
Texas Roadhouse, Ribs & Steak, North Dartmouth
Tokyo’s, Japanese, Mattapoisett
And then Sue asked if we could just hangout during the inbetween Fridays – at family style restaurants, our waterholes, so to speak, to end the school week. She said that she could suffer her own cooking if she ate out on Fridays. I am an excellent cook so Ed didn’t second the suffering part but was quick to tell Sue to meet us at Symposium’s for some mouth-watering scallops.
Our next restaurant will be The Boat House in Tiverton, Rhode Island (this is still considered to be a part of SouthCoast by SOCO magazine). We are open to friends joining us, and if we don’t know you we will by the end of dessert!
Our list is getting longer as our tastes expand:
Benjamin’s, American, Taunton
Abby Grille, Fancy cooking school, Fall River
Mermaid’s, Seafood, Fairhaven
Pasta House, Italian, Fairhaven
Lindsey’s, Family/Seafood, Buzzard’s Bay
We expect the list to grow and grow …
